USING DOMESTIC FEEDSTOCK TO CREATE U.S. JOBS AND PRODUCE A SUSTAINABLE FUEL TO MEET ENERGY NEEDS.
Diamond Green Diesel™ (DGD), a partnership with Valero Energy Corporation, is the largest refinery of its type in North America. This facility, which began production in June 2013, can convert approximately 11% of the recycled animal fats and used cooking oils in the U.S.A. into renewable diesel, a fuel almost identical to petroleum diesel.
The DGD plant integrates seamlessly with Valero’s existing fuel infrastructure, allowing the renewable diesel to be shipped using the same pipeline system, reducing the need for road transport of renewable diesel to zero.
85% reduction of Greenhouse Gasses
Renewable diesel is a second generation drop-in renewable fuel which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 85% when compared with petroleum diesel.
ON A CONSIDERABLE SCALE,
1.3 billion pounds per year
The plant can convert approximately 1.3 billion pounds (about 0.59 million tons) of recycled animal fat and used cooking oils or other feedstocks into renewable diesel every year.
WITH A SUPERIOR PRODUCT,
Meets ASTM International’s standard for Diesel Fuel
Because of this structural difference, renewable diesel is a superior product with a higher cetane index than typical ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD).
PROVIDING JOBS AND OPPORTUNITIES.
$ 400 million investment in local economy
The investment in constructing the plant, along with employment and vendor transactions, is benefiting the communities around the Norco, Louisiana facility.
