USING DOMESTIC FEEDSTOCK TO CREATE U.S. JOBS AND PRODUCE A SUSTAINABLE FUEL TO MEET ENERGY NEEDS.

Diamond Green Diesel™ (DGD), a partnership with Valero Energy Corporation, is the largest refinery of its type in North America. Beginning production in June 2013, DGD converts approximately 20% of the recycled animal fats, distiller oils and used cooking oils generated in North America into low carbon renewable diesel. This sustainable biofuel has properties identical to petroleum diesel, and can be dropped into and transported via the existing diesel pipeline, or via rail, truck or vessel.

CLEAN AIR,

85% reduction in Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Renewable diesel is a second generation, low carbon, drop-in renewable fuel which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 85% when compared with petroleum diesel.

ON A CONSIDERABLE SCALE,

Converts 2.4 billion pounds per year (~1.2 million tons)

The DGD plant converts approximately 1 of every 6 pounds of the animal fats, distiller oils and used cooking oil generated in the U.S. annually (or 15%).

WITH A SUPERIOR PRODUCT,

Low carbon fuel meets ASTM International’s diesel standards

Because of its structural similarity to petroleum diesel, without the harmful emissions, renewable diesel is a superior low carbon biofuel – no cold flow issues, burns cleanly, and has a higher cetane index than typical ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD).

PROVIDING JOBS AND OPPORTUNITIES.

$722 million investment in local economy

Darling Ingredients and Valero Energy have invested ~$722 million in plant construction, as well as expanding local employment opportunities and vendor transactions, benefitting the communities around the Norco, Louisiana facility.
